Editorial Policy and How We Test
Last updated: 4 November 2026
Two kinds of article, clearly labelled
- Hands-on tested: we used the product ourselves. We note the device, software version and test date, and include our own photos or screenshots.
- Research-based: we haven't used it hands-on (yet). We build the guide from official specs, vendor documentation and reputable reporting, cite sources inline, and mark where our own test results will be added.
How we test (when we test)
- Real tasks rather than synthetic benchmarks where possible, repeated on the same files across devices.
- We record OS and app versions and the date, because software changes quickly.
- We don't publish numbers we didn't measure, and we don't reuse other people's benchmarks without credit.
Sources
We prefer primary sources: manufacturer specification and support pages, official pricing pages, developer release notes and newsrooms. Community posts (Reddit, Hacker News) are used to find the questions real users ask, and quoted as opinions, not facts.
Independence
Affiliate partners and advertisers have no say in our content. See the affiliate disclosure.
Corrections and updates
We fix errors promptly and change the "Updated" date when we make a material change. Report a problem via our contact page.
AI use
We may use AI tools to help research and draft. A human checks every fact against its source before publishing and is responsible for what we publish.
