Best Free AI Directories to Submit Your Tool (Checked Free Options)
By Balwant Singh Rawat · Published · Updated · Research-based (not yet hands-on tested)
Quick answer: Launching Next, Uneed and Startup Buffer each have a free way to submit an AI tool or SaaS, which we checked on their own sites in November 2026. Free routes trade money for time: expect queues, manual review and conditions on links. Before you start, read our guide on how to submit an AI tool to directories.
How we chose: a directory is listed only if its own pages describe a free submission route for a basic listing. We leave out sites that need a payment, a badge on your site, a reciprocal link or a paid plan for that basic listing. Terms change, so re-read each site’s rules before you submit.
Launching Next
- Free option: yes — free submission form at launchingnext.com/submit.
- Paid extra: optional expedite (about $99) for faster review.
- Watch out for: the free route can take months, and publication is not guaranteed.
- Best for: startups and side projects of most kinds.
Uneed
- Free option: yes — a free waiting line; Uneed assigns a launch date at least 50 days out.
- Link conditions: per Uneed’s help pages, a free launch with a launch-day score of 20+ stays published with a dofollow link, 10–19 stays with a nofollow link, and below 10 goes back to your dashboard. Treat dofollow as conditional.
- Best for: makers who can rally some genuine upvotes on launch day.
Startup Buffer
- Free option: yes — submit a startup profile for review without paying; an account isn’t mandatory.
- What it asks for: name, URL, business email, short pitch, full description and a screenshot; category, location and tags are optional.
- Watch out for: free reviews may take longer than paid promotion.
- Best for: startups that want a profile organised by market and location.
Tips for free submissions
- Submit to slow queues (Uneed, Launching Next) first, since their wait is longest.
- Keep a tracker with date, status, live URL and link type.
- Check each live listing’s link yourself rather than relying on sales pages.
If you’d rather not fill in dozens of forms yourself, GearPicked’s directory submission service does manual submissions to 100 directories for $99 or 200 for $149, with screenshot proof. Listing approval, backlinks and rankings are not guaranteed.
